Centro Botín

The Centro Botín is currently holding the following exhibitions.

Centro Botín is an arts centre which focuses on generating social development and wealth by making the most of the arts’ inherent potential for awakening creative skills.

The building was designed by Pritzker prize winner, Renzo Piano, with the collaboration of various architects. Overlooking the sea, the building doesn’t touch the ground: it's raised on pillars and columns at the same height as the Pereda Gardens treetops, fully integrating into its environment.

The Marcelino Botín Foundation was founded in 1964 to promote social development in Cantabria. It also contributes to the comprehensive development of society by exploring new ways of spotting creative talent.

The Foundation develops programmes in the fields of art and culture, education, science, and rural development, as well as supporting social institutions to reach those who need it most.

The Centro Botín is currently holding the following exhibitions:

CARSTEN HÖLLER: Y

Centro Botín presents Carsten Höller’s first monographic exhibition to be held in Spain. The exhibition includes fourteen works, including Y, 2003; Elevator Bed, 2010; High Psycho Tank, 2015; and Pill Clock, 2015.

Exhibition open to the public: from 24/06/17 to 10/09/17.

LIGEREZA Y ATREVIMIENTO (LIGHTNESS AND DARING): GOYA’S DRAWINGS

Considered “Goya's own visual diary”, the Zaragozan artist’s drawings clearly reveal his inner universe and express his peculiar vision of the world. The 83 drawings collated for the exhibition enable the appreciation of Goya’s art and thought from the early Madrid years to the last years of his life, spent in self-imposed exile in Bordeaux.

Exhibition open to the public: from 24/06/17 to 24/09/2017.

ARTE EN EL CAMBIO DE SIGLO (TURN OF THE CENTURY ART)

This exhibition provides the visitor with a historical perspective of the last 25 years in the field of visual arts. The collection of works presented is very diverse, in terms of both the media used: photography, installation, sculpture, video, drawing, etc., as well as the diversity of its conceptual approach.

Exhibition open to the public: from 24/06/17 to January 2018
